A weekend home to recharge in. This residential lake house in the south of Sweden sits on top of a hill next to a deep dark lake surrounded by fir and beech forests.

The bedroom is calm and cool with brick floors and stone walls. The love seat at the end of the bed is designed by my friends at Atelier Alba. It is truly one of the most beautiful pieces of furniture I have ever seen and I was thrilled to be able to include it in this project. Solid elm wood and simple linen upholstered cushions.
We altered the existing bed and added a four poster structure to add a sense of height under this relatively low ceiling. Bed side lamps by Miguel Milà for Santa & Cole also add some vertical materiality. I am a big fan of floor standing lamps as bed lights. Bed side tables are raw elm stumps from a tree taken down locally. And finally a beautiful shaker style chair with Japanese influences by Finish furniture producer Nikari.

The fireplace set by Eldvam in classic walnut is a lasting friend to this gorgeous 1960s fireplace.

The living room is furnished in light materials and colors to contrast the dark wood panel and balance the spectacular white fireplace. Blond woods, natural leather, wool & linen textiles, brass and glass in a mix of old and new pieces.

If rowing on a quiet lake doesn’t charge the soul, what does?
